prices will peak at around $3.60 a gallon in June. The government
thinks that high prices will help curb demand.
In a monthly update, the Energy Information Administration says
high prices and a weak economy should cut demand for gas by about
four-tenths of a percent during the summer peak driving season.
The AAA and Oil Price Information Service report that gas prices
have slipped slightly overnight to a national average of $3.331 a
gallon from yesterday's record of $3.339. That is up 55 cents from
a year ago.
AAA Alabama said the average statewide price for regular is
$3.25 a gallon today. That's a penny increase from Monday's price.
Current Gas Prices (Tuesday, April 8)
