WASHINGTON (AP) - Dozens of new cars and trucks, led by Ford and
its Volvo subsidiary, have made the insurance industry's annual
list of safest vehicles.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says for the 2009
model year, Ford and Volvo have 16 vehicles on the list, followed
by Honda with 13.
The awards bolster the case made by Ford CEO Alan Mulally
(muh-LAHL'-lee) in Washington last week when he testified along
with Big Three executives seeking massive government aid. He'd
argued that Ford had made significant strides.
Volkswagen and its Audi brand had nine vehicles on the list. GM
and Toyota each had eight.

I couldn’t really tell you about gas mileage because this one has never had a drop of e85 in it.never could find any when needing a refill, another well intentioned idea blew out of the water! This Taurus gave about 24 to 25 mpg up I65 at about 70mph and coming back down U.S.31 at 60 and below,it went up to 32 point something mpg.Not bad with all the comforts going.

e85 just doesn’t get good milage. compare price of gas and e85 and gas gets better milage.

I’m getting old and just like my old uncles that lived through the depression.  They were outraged when the minimum wage went up $1.65 and didn’t know what people would do with all that money.

Now, I see $40,000 bucks and remember that a person could buy a decent house for that a few years back…..

That would be nice! You still got that e85 vehicle like the one I have? I want one of those on the news again yesterday that gets 100 mpg and a good looking car! Goes 125mph and looked to be pretty roomy. The fellow said he would like some money so he could get the price down on each to around $40,000.Gas saved and maintenance wise would seem to make it cheaper in the long run.

I’ve had several Fords and I would get another one.  Where do I get in line for this new bailout money for car loans, credit cards and student loans?  I want me some bailout bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From a Pinto to the safest car. That is quite a leap! From the worse to the best,at least they’re moving forward in that area of car safety.
