TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - State officials say Florida'sunemployment rate in May was at its highest in more than five
years.
The jobless rate was 5.5 percent, the same as the national
number.
The Agency for Workforce Innovation reported Friday that another
56,000 workers lost jobs last month, bringing the total number of
jobless in Florida to more than a half million.
The state's unemployment numbers haven't been this high since
January 2003.
Flagler County in east-central Florida reported the highest
unemployment rate in the state at 8.3 percent.
