Everlasting Distributors Inc. of Bayonne, N.J., has initiated a nationwide recall of its 3.88oz (110gm) packages of Fresh and Crispy Jacobina Biscuits. The recall was initiated after the Food and Drug Administration discovered that the product contains melamine.Consumers who have the product, which was distributed mostly to Asian retailers, should stop using it immediately. No illnesses associated with this product have been reported to date. If consumers have questions about possible health risks, they should contact their doctor. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 201-823-0800, Monday to Friday 9:00 to 5:00, Eastern Standard Time.
According to Alice Rollins, director of the Mobile County Health Department’s Food and Lodging Department, environmentalists from her department will be checking to make sure all of the recalled product has been removed from retailer’s shelves.
