Alabama Power says scam artists are calling its customers trying to get their hands on your credit card information.

The caller, who claims to work for Alabama Power, says you have an overdue bill and recommends using a credit card to take care of it.

In a slightly different scam, the caller says there is a problem with your credit card that needs your immediate attention and asks you to call a toll-free number.

Alabama Power says if you ever have a question about your bill, call them directly at 800.245.2244.

If you believe you have been ripped off by these scam artists, contact your local police department immediately.
