Local Pitcher Dominating in the Circle, Setting Records at South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. - “It was exciting, but to me that’s not what it’s about. It’s about us going out and winning games together as a team, and the strikeouts are just a result of that,” said pitcher Devin Brown.

Devin Brown will go down in South Alabama softball history as one of the program’s most dominant pitchers

The senior from Theodore High School is just the latest local prospect to dominate in the circle.

“Hannah Campbell was from Satsuma High School and was an All-American here. Farish Beard from Fairhope High School had a great deal of success here, and now we have Devin come in, from Theodore High School, and keep that tradition going," said head coach Becky Clark.

Devin recently became South Alabama’s all-time strikeout leader.

Devin’s name is all over the Jag's record books, most strikeouts in a single season and most strikeouts looking, you name it, Devin’s done it.

And her family has been there each step of the way.

“It’s been amazing and really awesome to be this close to home,” said Devin. “So to be able to have my family come out all the time and watch me play that’s the best part for me, that’s amazing.”

Talking with Devin, her humility stands out, and I also found out she’s just as talented with a paint brush in her hand as she is with a softball.

“She is now a budding artist,” said Coach Clark. “I have seen some of her stuff, she’s very good. It’s awesome.”

A budding artist with numerous South Alabama records to her name, but there’s one thing Devin has yet to accomplish.

“I’d love to go out with some wins. Let’s go to the World Series, let’s do this,” said Devin. “It’s time.”
