Two firefighters were hurt today while fighting a fire at a small neighborhood food store. It happened at Lincolnway Foods in the 700 block of Lincoln Way West in South Bend.Officials do not know how this fire started, and they say it could take days to determine a cause. Fire investigators are on the scene talking to the owner. They'll also need to sift through what's left of the building, but firefighters are still trying to put out hot spots.
Crews arrived at Lincolnway Foods shortly after 7 a.m. Flames and smoke were shooting out of the building. They tried battling the blaze on the inside. But they say that was too dangerous, so they got out and fought it from the outside.
That’s when the roof and the walls collapsed, injuring two firefighters.
One witness says he was working on a roof near the grocery store when the fire broke out. He described the scene as chaotic.

As a firefighter, watching this video just reminds me of the unknown dangers that are out there each and every day. Thank God that his fellow firemen were alert and attentive and were able to get him out of the debris before the rest of the wall came down. I did not see the other fireman that was injured inthe video but I do hope and pray that both are on their way to a speedy recovery.
