In a sheer act of desperation, a German couple threw their 2-year-old boy out of a burning building.Flames engulfed the crowded apartment complex, which served as a refugee hostel for Turkish families in Ludwigshaven, Germany. Entire families were trapped on the upper floors. Those who could handed their children to firefighters able to reach them on ladders.
One couple did the only thing they could to give their boy a fighting chance. They tossed him out the window. He fell 40-feet before an off duty police officer, who just happened to be in the neighborhood, managed to catch the toddler.
The death-defying rescue was caught on camera.
Five people, including children, died in the fire. It's not know whether the parents who threw their little son out the window survived.
