An amazing crash at a Phoenix, Arizona drag-boat race ended up looking worse that it actually was, and the driver is going to be okay.The race was on the water at the Phoenix Firebird International Raceway Saturday (11-22). The boat’s driver, James Ray, was in a qualifying run at the NAPA World Finals. Ray was in a quarter-mile run that saw his boat reach 240-miles per hour when something when terribly wrong.
Witnesses say the boat started to “wobble” and the next thing everyone saw was the boat flipping and pieces of it flying into the air. Ray was in a safety capsule, which is credited with keeping him from being seriously hurt in the crash.
Fans watching the race were stunned and what happened and were glad to hear that Ray wasn’t seriously hurt.
