BETHESDA, Md. (AP) - One witness to a massive water-main break
near Washington, D.C. says it looked like the Potomac River rushing
outside his house.
He said the frigid waters swept by in a torrent.
The break sent a wall of water across a Bethesda, Maryland road
during rush hour. Rescue crews using boats and helicopters had to
pluck more than a dozen motorists from their vehicles as the flood
raged.
Officials say several of those rescued have been treated for
hypothermia. The temperature was around 20 degrees in the area.
