Police arrested a reporter and photographer as they interviewed people near a
crash scene.

From this video, you can see a police sergeant yell at the crew to get back in
their truck and leave.

The reporter responds that they are just doing their job and then proceeds to
walk toward a crash witness.

When the sergeant stops him, he walks away, while responding his photographer
can "shoot if he wants too."

Seconds later, the officer gets the reporter against an S-U-V and handcuffs
him.

He then turns to the photographer and appears to take the camera away from him.

Both men were taken to a command center but were released within minutes.

The police sergeant, seen in the tape, accused the crew of interfering with
police.

The El Paso Police Department has launched an investigation and is reviewing
the video.

The department says "It's unfortunate any time a member of the public or the
news media feels that they've been treated unfairly by any member of our
department, and so, that's a very serious type of allegation - something we
have to ensure that we investigate completely."

I’m simply wondering if the “Get in your Truck and move” is a legal order or not.
Somehow I doubt it.
I get the feeling that this guy represents 00.00001% of the police in this country.
If you obey the speed limit, don’t brake any laws and are not stupid, you will never have a problem with the 99.9999% of the cops that are good. However that small amount, that think they have roving authority to tell people whatever they want, will always be jerks for whatever reason.

19yrs and a sgt. he still doesn’t know how to talk to pll or asses and handle crowds? i’m not sure he is ready to be a mettermaid.

I knew if he had such little self-control in a benign situation like that, he had to have a serious attitude problem.  The reporter and the photojournalist are lucky they got out of that one alive.  They could have wound up in the Rio Grande!

I just watched a report revealing the 12 previous internal affairs complaints by the El Paso Police Department against this officer in the past. It doesn’t sound good for the officer much less for the El Paso P.D. for allowing this to happen by keeping a multiple offending officer (by internal affairs complaints) to be anyplace other than behind a desk.
FIRE THIS HOT HEAD NOW EL PASO before he kills someone for a parking violation.

It seems an extreme reaction on the cops part, makes you wonder if he had something to hide. I know reporters could be a pain in the—- a lot, but it doesn’t put the officer in a good light.  Like he was reacting out of frustration and lost control.

Thankfully, we live in a country that allow’s us to generaly speak our mind’s without repercussions and for the news stations to only tell us what they want us to know, without the burden of providing all the facts, so that we have a better understanding of what the truth is. Politics or lazyness any guess’s

found it BamaBob, you are right, the guys a nut job. told the male nurs in the scrubbs you see to hit the road to. His Chief said he was wrong and is being looked at hard. story out of el paso is he has a history of this kind of thing.

i didn’t see much of anything about this in all the local and state news down there. this reporter must be a free lance

The reporter approached the cop and tried to ask a question.  The cop gave a rude response.  The reporter then says, “I will just talk to those guys.”  Then the cop flipped out!

Nothing in that video clip explains why that cop completely lost control of his emotions.

Hard to say.. To me it looked like he was walking away as the officer asked. I guess he was just not doing it quiet enough for the officers taste.
