NEW YORK (AP) - The use of Tasers by police is being questionedagain. This, after a naked, distraught man fell to his death when
an officer shocked him while he stood on the ledge of a New York
City building.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital after his nearly
10-foot fall yesterday. Police say he suffered serious head trauma
when he hit the sidewalk.
Some are wondering why he was shocked at all when police had
nothing to break his fall.
A video on the New York Post's Web site shows the man swinging a
large fluorescent light bulb at officers standing below. One of the
officers then raises a Taser at him, causing the man to freeze and
then topple over headfirst.
Witnesses say the man was suicidal. Police are investigating his
death.
