Due to inclement weather in the Mobile area, Tuesday’s baseball game between the University of South Alabama and Auburn University at Stanky Field has been postponed until April 14 at 6 p.m.The decision to postpone the game was made around 11 a.m. Tuesday with forecasts suggesting the Mobile area will see severe weather this evening. With a date already in place to reschedule the game, the decision was made before Auburn departed for Mobile.
“This is in the best interest of the fans, players, and everyone else involved,” head coach Steve Kittrell said. “The Auburn team and many fans would have had to drive through bad weather to get here, and we made this decision in the interest of safety.”
USA and Auburn were previously scheduled to play in Auburn, Ala. on April 14, but the Tigers have agreed to rearrange the schedule to allow the teams to play in Mobile on the 14th and in Auburn on April 15 at 6 p.m.
“We really appreciate coach Pawlowski working with us to reschedule the games so the fans wouldn’t miss out on seeing Auburn and South Alabama on both team’s home fields,” Kittrell said. “With his help, and with a potentially dangerous situation, this was an easy decision.”
USA will still wear 1970s throwback uniforms when they face Auburn on April 14, and those jerseys will be auctioned off after the game on www.usajaguars.com.
The Jags return to action this weekend when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. for a Sun Belt Conference series with Florida Atlantic. Friday night’s game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. central time.
