MOBILE, Alabama - Where is your tax money?

Thousands of dollars have disappeared from the Mobile County Revenue Commissioner's office and no one wants to talk about it.

Just mentioning the word "taxes" gets a negative response from just about everyone. But when we tell the citizens of Mobile County about missing property tax money, they're demanding answers.

Taxpayer Bob Rouillier wants to know where the money went! "If we don't pay our taxes, they'll put us in jail. We have to go to prison. It had to go somewhere, didn't it?"

Here's what we know-- a criminal investigation is going on to find out how about 20,000 dollars from the Mobile County Revenue Commissioner's office went missing. We're told that employees are being questioned but Commissioner Marilyn Wood won't comment on the case.

She directed us to county attorney Jay Ross. Ross confirms the missing money but declined to talk about the case on camera. He says that the investigation is almost complete and can talk to us when it's over.

We will stay on top of this story and let you know what comes out of the investigation.
