Shontrell Burke said she remembers emergency medical technicians trying to get little Alasia Marks, a two year old girl killed in a police chase, to respond.
Burke told News Five "Him (the suspect) and the police were coming head first toward us."
Burke said she was in the car with Adrian Marks and Marks' baby, Alasia, whom she calls Lay Lay.
She said, "I looked at the back seat where the baby, where Lay Lay was. Lay Lay was just laid out across the seat with the heavy debris from the car, of the impact of the accident on her with the car seat on top of her."
Burke said a medical technician asked the baby's name and called to her.
She said "The E-M-T man said, 'Lay Lay, Lay Lay, Lay Lay,' and at that time that's when Adrian said, 'My baby, what's wrong with my baby? Y'all tell me something about my baby.' "
Burke said the EMT called again to the baby.
She said, "The EMT man kept saying, 'Lay Lay, Lay Lay, Lay Lay,' so by that time Lay Lay had done said, 'Ahh mah,' and didn't say nothing else."
Bernard Reese said he's the baby's godfather.
Reese said, "She was a good girl, an angel. She was real sweet, real sweet, and that's what I'm going to miss about her. She told me she loved me Monday night. She called me and told me she loved me."
But what about the chase?
Reese said, "I think they should have called off that chase. If they had the tag number, they could have went and got them later."
Burke said, "They should have stopped the chase."
District Attorney John Tyson was asked his thoughts on the police chase and said, "You know, its not the police's fault that somebody's dead here. The fault is some man, after having stopped, decided to gun the car to escape the police, after he knew that they were behind him."
Family members said Alasia's birthday is September 9.
She would have been three.

Be careful Texas, you might insult his intelligence. I’m not sure how that can happen but it’s what I have been told. lol   I sometimes think people forget what their point really is after a while on a topic. After 30 post it should have been made clear.

The million dollar question Texas Girl! This has been going on for a VERY long time, and it never changes. You’ll see…Stick around though, there are a lot of good people on here, even if we do have differing opinions sometimes. You’ll learn.smile

Oops made a mistake on my post, I meant to say drugs, was talking to my girls while typing, and yes BamaBob we are reading, the others are correct when they say that you are very aggressive, why is it that the person that is the most aggressive about getting their point across is also the one that is so stuck on their point of view that if anyone disagrees with it, they are the ones with the problem, even if those not in agreement with them are in the majority.  Somthing the think about.

I did understand what you were saying Texas Girl. My response was to those that think a “no pursuit” policy is the way to go. Sorry for the confusion-and welcome to the board.

Dear rmseek1234, sorry if I didn’t state myself clearly, first time I have done this.  I believe that the police have to give chase, if a person runs, they have something to hide and until they are caught we would never know what they are hiding, whether it be something as simple as a job or a body in the trunk, law enforcement has always got to assume the worst, and I support them 100%.

I never said I was at the meeting.I PLANNED to go,but had other obligations. I did go to a meeting about the junk law and animal control. Could that be where your confusion lies?

So, you were not telling the truth when you said you were at the meeting?  Why am I not surprised about your lack of honesty.

Actually, I was unable to make the meetings-so I am not sure what that has to do with anything.

That is just so, so incomprehensible.

Do you remember the attempted annexation of Semmes?  Do you remember going to the council meetings to discuss that topic?

Really? Like I said, you would be surprised. Nurses tend to remember certain types of patients.

Not sure how you are trying to relate my job as an RN to LE-but then again,we all know how your mind tends to eh hmmm, function.
