Burke told News Five "Him (the suspect) and the police were coming head first toward us."
Burke said she was in the car with Adrian Marks and Marks' baby, Alasia, whom she calls Lay Lay.
She said, "I looked at the back seat where the baby, where Lay Lay was. Lay Lay was just laid out across the seat with the heavy debris from the car, of the impact of the accident on her with the car seat on top of her."
Burke said a medical technician asked the baby's name and called to her.
She said "The E-M-T man said, 'Lay Lay, Lay Lay, Lay Lay,' and at that time that's when Adrian said, 'My baby, what's wrong with my baby? Y'all tell me something about my baby.' "
Burke said the EMT called again to the baby.
She said, "The EMT man kept saying, 'Lay Lay, Lay Lay, Lay Lay,' so by that time Lay Lay had done said, 'Ahh mah,' and didn't say nothing else."
Bernard Reese said he's the baby's godfather.
Reese said, "She was a good girl, an angel. She was real sweet, real sweet, and that's what I'm going to miss about her. She told me she loved me Monday night. She called me and told me she loved me."
But what about the chase?
Reese said, "I think they should have called off that chase. If they had the tag number, they could have went and got them later."
Burke said, "They should have stopped the chase."
District Attorney John Tyson was asked his thoughts on the police chase and said, "You know, its not the police's fault that somebody's dead here. The fault is some man, after having stopped, decided to gun the car to escape the police, after he knew that they were behind him."
Family members said Alasia's birthday is September 9.
She would have been three.
