Woman Found Dead In The Trunk Of A Car

Alabama Evergreen The car was at a rest stop on I-65 near Evergreen. Police say Jessica Murphy's estranged husband was dead in the driver's seat.

The Connecuh County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide.

Deputies found Scottie Murphy dead in the driver's seat of his estranged wife's 2003 Kia Rio around 8:00 a.m. at a rest stop on I-65 near Evergreen. The car had been reported missing Saturday in Augusta, Georgia. Deputies also found Jessica Murphy dead in the trunk. According to the Richmond County (Georgia) Sheriff’s Office, it appears she had been dead for several days.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office believe Scottie Murphy killed Jessica at his apartment Saturday afternoon when she stopped by to drop off some items before heading to work.

Investigators are not sure why Scottie Murphy drove to Alabama.
