Woman Escapes Fire In Her Apartment

Alabama Mobile  Mobile Fire Rescue says the fire started in a bedroom and caused $15 thousand in damage. The 52-year-old woman who lived there made it out unharmed.

MOBILE, Alabama - Mobile Fire Rescue is looking into the case of an apartment fire.

According to department spokesman Steve Huffman, firefighters received a call around 10:50 a.m. about an apartment fire at 300-A Brazier Drive, North in the Roger Williams Housing Community. When the arrived about five minutes later, heavy smoke and fire was pouring out of the two-story, wood frame/brick structure.

The 52-year-old woman who lived there made it out unharmed and was at a neighbor's apartment.

Huffman says the fire started in a bedroom. While investigators don't know how it started, the cause appears to be accidental.

The fire caused $15 thousand in damage.
