Perhaps he wasn’t smart enough to use the rifle properly.

Something that I am curious about in this whole incident is why he did not shoot her. Obviously we are all glad he did not. Im curious as to why. What went on in his head, that he probably isnt even aware of, that kept him from doing so. He had a rifle and he fired a shot. It is likely he was very angry she had thrown the keys and thats why he hit her with the rifle butt (Im guessing here of course). I mean this question seriously. Risk of punishment is usually not a deterrent for crime (statistically this is a true statement) but it may have been in his case. Dont know, but I find it intriguing.

I don’t think revenge is the answer either BUT that is a system that would make the vic feel better!  This child had parents that cared.  It is too late for DHR in his case.  His many chances at Strickland did not help.

He now feels that he will always get ANOTHER chance.  And, I’m sure he felt he was owed the car!

I never said “revenge” was a cure for PTSD either.  I just said it would would probably help me. Different things affect people in all kinds of different ways.  Some get over things easier and quicker than others and some never get over it at all.  I have worked in psychiatrist/medical doctor’s office and I have seen different degrees of PTSD and have watched how different people handle things. Each case has to be handled carefully and have close follow to just to be able to cope.  One person may want revenge and it helps them.  Another may want to crawl in a hole and never come out.  We are all different, but I was just implying what might be a “cure” for me.

Flowerchild….I am in no way trying to down-play what you said. People handle things different ways, by choice or not, and then deal with those result differently too. I just know at that time in MY life, revenge WOULD have been sweet. Still might…..lol

Revenge does not cure or take the place of PTSD. PTSD is not a choice. It happens when someone experiences a traumatic event or series of events. That is not to say that this woman will or will not experience PTSD.

I hope that this thug is tried as an adult.

framkly, this thug probably does not know who his daddy is and mom is probably not in the picture anymore.  At 17 his monthly check is about to stop and mom must be looking to replace that income.

At 17, I wonder how many baby mommas he has and how many of his children we taxpayers are paying for…

Same here RM & Sirk,  these useless thugs are a waste of air.  I’ve been on the other end of a thug’s gun and have no mercy or tolerance for these breathing losers.

They show no respect for the elderly, for the church, for civilized people, for decency, and have zero work ethic.  Truly they are a waste of human life and should be treated as such.
