MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A wine label showing a nude nymph is too
much for Alabama's liquor control agency, which has told
restaurants and stores not to sell the product.

The label on Cycles Gladiator wine, produced by Hahn Family
Wines in Soledad, Calif., shows a vintage 1895 bicycle advertising
poster with a nude nymph flying beside a winged bicycle.

The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board recently sent a
letter to stores and restaurants telling them not to sell the wine
because the label had been rejected by the agency. Alabama liquor
regulations prohibit labels that are offensive or immodest.

The president of Hahn Family Wines, Bill Leigon, says the wine
has been sold nationwide without any complaints until now.

WKRG!!! If it’s too offensive for the ABC board, it’s too offensive for your WEBSITE!

What’s wrong with people!?!?!

This is an outrage!! every bottle of this needs to be taken to the police and destroyed. every concerned citizen need to get there cheeze and crackers and meet me there ASAP. please bring no fruits as they are upset about the label as it is, thank you for your understanding.

I totally agree with Rusty.

If they went to the beach they would want to ban a lot of things.Nymph is this not a ficticious creature?Maybe this board needs to get around the younger crowd and see how knoledgeable the younger generation are.kids now days are way ahead of the curve. The people of Alabama need to step up and tell them if this is all they have to do,they need to find a different job we don’t need them to protect us from naked nymphs.

Does this mean that the mermaid from Chicken of the Sea is banned also?

Don’t be too hard on South Alabama!  Many in the area appreciate art.  Don’t forget the guy that broke into a store to steal an inflatable woman!

Is it true that he was later found babbling about the big boom theory with a very high, squeaky voice?

you know that Alabama is controlled by the Southern Christian Coalition and they think it is still 1950,they thump on their Bibles and force their agenda down everyone’s throat.this is why we are so far behind the rest of the country, maybe one day the people of Alabama will wake up and and do something about it.until then we will be lost in the 50’s,this is art not porn!.

I don’t like wine but I keep several bottles of it for those that do.  So now I want two more:  one for consumption and one for display.

A BIG Archie Bunker raspberry to the nannies over at the Control Agency!

I guess it means if you drink this wine you’ll see naked women trying to ride a bicycle! That ought to get a few bottles moving off the shelves before they recall them.smirk

What’s wrong with that label?  Looks like a very nice naked woman hanging onto a bicycle while underwater.  Don’t we see that sort of thing almost every day?

Hmmmmm….. maybe we don’t.  What the heck does it mean?  I for one, am very pro naked women, but I don’t understand the symbolism.
