Will the City of Prichard remain a city? Or, will Mobile County take over? Prichard City Councilwoman Earline Martin-Harris says the people should be able to vote on the matter in the November 2010 election. Harris says the city is on the verge of bankruptcy and neighbors are fed up with Prichard government, "I believe the City of Prichard has been on the path of self destruction for a long time. It's just more important that the citizens have the opportunity to vote for what they want and not what the politicians want," said Harris. But, Prichard Mayor Ron Davis says this is just a political move by Harris and the city is doing just fine, "I am very energetic and believe that this city can be sustained. It is sustainable and I think that we are going to be able to do the things that we need to do," said Davis. Mobile County Commissioner Steve Nodine is against the county taking over, because he says it would put an unfair burden on Mobile County taxpayers.

“Learning to change” would fit well here also,I believe.

You know I still like Prichard for some reason. It must have something to do with my memories of it as a kid.The Zoo and the swimming pool and the midget cop,or wanted to be,Johnny i believe it was,but I wouldn’t live there now for any reason with it being such a hot bed of crime. It still can become a viable and good community once again if they had a strong leader and a bigger and better PPD.They’ve got people now in office that can’t even think their way out of a paper bag, must less put a muzzle on all the crime, and they have voters who don’t even have the slightest idea of what they should or shouldn’t vote for. They mostly just take the word of who ever is running for office. There should be some simple test of all voters to see if they can comprehend what the vote is about and the issues, without someone leaning over their shoulder telling them what to vote for or how.Maybe making them vote by them selves would be the simple test.Prichard can still be a good community if the people would wake up and do the right thing and pick their leaders by ability instead of color and when color is no factor then by ability and leadership alone.

Know those areas well Carl. But the racetrack is on the Saraland/Prichard line, right? I know exactly what you are saying though…

I see this kind of different than Sam’s attempts to annex into Mobile. It was government, wanting to take on more territory (tax base). With this, it seems it is the people who want to leave that community (like they aren’t already). But anyhow,I think the county residents should have a voice into whether they want to take on this burden. I don’t. And I am glad Nodine is opposing it.

Prichard Mobile should not take on all that debt.  Let them go under! Wal mart won’t ever be in Prichard not enough business and too much crime!

Build a wall around it and let them take care of themselves instead of looking around with their hand out.

i am not really in the market to sell, my daughter will do that and aggrivate all the neighbors when she turns it tino a giant trailer park.but i hear prices all the time for between 30 and 66k an acre. 66k has been my price for a few years, if someone offers me cashe for it i am outta here, oterwise i am here trying scrape up enough money to keep it cut and not get a loan. workin as an anesthestist on the weekends to buy gas and fertilizer to use during the week. sometimes i think it would be nice to sell but i can imagine the horror of driving past it HOWEVER they develope it knowing i cant go walking out there in my pajamas shooting my gun and doing whatever else men do when we are outside anymore.

Claycity,if you sold it for as much as BASS PRO SHOP paid for that land they are on,you could do what ever you wanted ,where ever you wanted! Course that was kin from the rich side of the family and I’d have to settle for a trip to wal*mart and rent a movie on vacation places.grin

I don’t have any idea what you are referring to Bamabob about their water tower.Could it be concerning your post on another thread about"a growing concern”?
LOL

Let Prichard go under…it’s funny how these people can’t govern themselves.

Exactly why does Prichard’s water tower look like that?  Is that making some type of statement, or what?  LOL
