It's a hot day for a protest. Dozens of Prichard residents braved the scorching morning heat to protest water rates Saturday, June 20th, 2009. Members of the United Concerned Citizens of Prichard Alabama either walked or drove about five miles. They made the journey from the Prichard Water Works building to the headquarters of the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System. They were protesting water rates in Prichard. Organizers say they want to dissolve the Prichard water board and merge with MAWSS.

“The water rates in Prichard Alabama for the citizens of Prichard, we can no longer afford these outrageous water rates,” says Spokesperson for the United Concerned Citizens of Prichard Alabama S. Campbell Morris. The Prichard Water Board and its attorney were unavailable for comment. It is Saturday and offices were closed.

What pockets are you talking about? Shouldnt their records be public? I didn’t think anything of a $30 a month water bill (solely water) until I found out that others had bills of 10 bucks and unlimited amts. HMMMMMM they are not spending on infrastructure. Where is it going?

This is a very peculiar situation.  The justice Department should demand that those water records be made public!  Something is going on here and I bet it leads back to a very few pockets!
