Voice of News 5 Passes Away

Florida Alabama Long-time voice man Chris Clausen dies in Florida after suffering a stroke.

You never saw his face, but many people on the Gulf Coast grew up with Chris Clausen. Since 1998, Clausen has been the station's voice for News 5 promos. Every night, he is the first thing viewers hear when he starts the newscasts with the familiar "Number one for news coverage you can count on, this is WKRG News 5". For almost 20 years, Clausen has been a fixture at numerous television stations around the country. Clausen died Tuesday at an Orlando hospital following complications from a massive stroke. WKRG Marketing Director Robin Delaney says Clausen was well-respected in the industry and was part of the News 5 family. News 5 Editor-Producer Sam Day says as stressful as Clausen's job was due to many deadlines, "I could call him up past time to deliver copy and he always knew it was me. He always had time to crack a joke and still make deadline." Clausen was 63.

I’ve wondered a time or two in the past who that voice belonged to. I never could place it with a face or voice I see or hear every day. Ironic isn’t it ? Some of the things we leave behind us that we will be remembered for best is probably some of the things we thought little about during our life. MR.CLASEN’s voice will be heard for years after his death. You did a great job CHRIS ! GOD speed.
