MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's ban of a wine featuring a nude
nymph on the label could produce a financial windfall for the
California vintner.
The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board recently sent a
letter to stores and restaurants, telling them to quit serving
Cycles Gladiator wine because of the nude nymph on the label.
Bill Leigon, president of Hahn Family Wines in Soledad, Calif.,
said Thursday that visits to the company's Web site have increased
tenfold since news of the ban broke late last week. He said callers
from across the country have been inquiring about where they can
buy the wine.
He is preparing store displays that say "Banned in Bama" and
he's anticipating a significant increase in sales.

There are women walking down Government and Telegraph roads who have on clothing covering little more than the label shows.

What next, our marital toys? Oh, wait. You can’t buy those in the state either.

Seniorguy302, I think you pretty much nailed it!

just, whne u think alabama cant do any thing else to make us the laffing stock of the usa, some oen   does. this is beyond belief. how in sam hill can an label, showing less than u see at the beach,  affect an7y thing. its bad enuff our mis_guided elected officals in monkey city wont approve lottery or casinos. now they decide fr all of us what wines we can buy. i can truely see why folks in other states think we are back wood hicks. talk about shooting   ones foot off, this takes the cake.

Fox, you’re describing the crime known as “boot-legging.”

You can keep your wine with your artisticly nude fictional charachters!

I’ll just sit here drinking my LEGAL “Fat B@stard” wine!

OK, so sellers in Bama can’t legally sell this bottle.  But can Bama residents purchase it elsewhere - then legally bring it into the state (for their own use)?

I’m thinking of the old Smokey and the Bandit movie where Burt & friends made a mad dash for some Coors Beer.  I feel a powerful thirst coming on - and may be willing to take some orders!

Or can an outside supplier legally ship it to people within the Bama borders?

The nude label does not show any more detail or as much as a naked Barbie doll.  How many kids have and continue to play Barbie and Ken dolls.

Froggie, tell that to ABC Commissioner Emory Folmar…he’s the one with the “Mayberry mentality”...what an ignorant little man!!!

I think this is kind of stupid because if you are of age to buy liquor or wine then what does it matter what the label look like. We are supposeto be adults!!!!
