MOBILE, Alabama - A former judge won't automatically get his
law license back now that he's been cleared of criminal charges
accusing him of paddling and sexually abusing young inmates.

Attorneys for former Mobile County Circuit Judge Herman Thomas
say it could take months for a determination on his law license.

The Alabama State Bar suspended Thomas' license in March
following his indictment. He was cleared of all criminal charges
Monday at the end of a trial in Mobile.

The State Bar's accusations against Thomas are similar to those
in the trial. The State Bar's general counsel, Tony McClain, says
the case will be decided by a State Bar disciplinary panel. No date
has been set. If the panel rules against Thomas, he could receive
anything from a private reprimand to disbarment.

Why would he want to practice here in Mobile, I know he will if he gets his license back, but I think he should not practice law locally.

Some are angry, some are relieved. We are taught to accept the system we have in America! Accept, move on and let’s remember that this is the system when we win, and it is the system when we lose. Sore losers ar eno fun to be aorund. I can only imagine how jubilant the prosection would have been had they won the case. Meet triumph and disaster with the same face, and return for another day. Never allow a case to consume your well being. The jury spoke.. We shall move forward with life. Many people believe the Press to be the gsopel truth.. The case was “heard” and the defense beat the offense. This man needs to feed his family, so I pray the Board responds to the verdict and allow Herman to move on with life. Some doors have been closed, but he is free and has the right to live. It doesn’t matter what the offense thinks—the defense won. We have all witnessed cases like this one, and for some reason, we were sure the defendant was guilty until DNA testing came about..Be careful with trusting the words of a desperate inmate.

given the fact he beat the criminal charges the rehearing is a formality to him getting his license back. the criminal investigation and trial trump any ethics committee action or investigation. they would be opening themselves wide up if they did anything other than restore his license. thats why tyson is shaking. dont look for him to do anything but make a bunch of noise spinning his wheels.

Perhaps a paddling is in order.
