MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A University of South Alabama economics professor has been charged with sending obscene pictures to a minor.

According to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Mobile Barry Simpson was accused by an FBI agent of sending obscene pictures to an FBI agent posing as a 13-year-old girl.

The case will be heard in federal court in Miami because the undercover agent is based there.

USA spokesman Keith Ayers said the university has suspended Simpson with pay pending the outcome of the case.

Wouldn’t that make one heck of a Christmas Card!!!

What a dweeb…..

suzanne, i agree. she should have done that while it was still attached.

I heard on the 10 pm new cast that the picture(s)was of him self and he said he had did it before to another young girl.

well..in my opinion Lorena was a fool for tossing that thing out the window.  Two words….garbage disposal.

Wooah! Rosepetal!

i just look at it like this, it was a fbi sting. we all gripe about crime, but then when something is done. oh no they are a nice person. protect their rights. i prefer to give the fbi the benefit of the doubt. they know the laws what is and what is not. like i said he just got caught with this one no telling how many before he got caught. he better be glad it was not my daughter, he would be minus something to show. think bobbitt.

I’ve never been real comfortable with the idea of charging some one with the intent to commit a crime but in this case I believe he went beyond just talking about an action and intended for that photo to be seen by a minor if indeed she was a minor or not.But either way I think he went way beyond standards of morality for a person in his position of influence on students if he did send the photo to any one.

he thought it was a minor

intent

ROSIE.. I am not arguing that he was fooled by someone appearing to be 13. I am saying, there was no minor. It was an agent. How can he be charged if there was no minor?
