Alabama State Troopers say Gary Thomas was killed Friday as he walked along Lott Road near Rodgers Road. He is the second person to die in a hit and run accident on Lott Road in less than two weeks. Earlier this month, Nazanene Malahnejad lost her life near Spice Pond Road.
Now, neighbors want something done, whether its sidewalks, lighting, or more patrols. We took their concerns to Alabama State Troopers, "we patrol everywhere and unfortunately any time there's an accident, sort of like the old saying goes the hit dog squeals the loudest, you know, that's where we're going to focus for the time being especially on a LSA crash. Obviously, we're going to focus our efforts in that area in an attempt to find the LSA driver," said Cpl. Joe Piggott.
Alabama State Troopers are still looking for the driver who struck and killed Gary Thomas. They're looking for a Chevy Blazer that's described as an older model, dark colored, and it may be two-toned.
If you have any information about Friday's hit and run on Lott Road call Alabama State Troopers at (251) 660-2300.
