Two panhandle teachers are arrested on felony charges less than three weeks before the start of the school year for allegedly having having sex with teenage boys.

According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, someone sent an anonymous letter to the school board alleging sexual relationships between two Jay High School Teachers and male juveniles. The board then turned it over to deputies on June 28.

During the course of the investigation, two teenage boys told deputies they had sex with 33-year-old April Watson at her home and the home of another teacher, 31-year-old Ashley Burkett. A third boy said he had sex with Burkett both at her house and Watson's house. The sex allegedly took place between July and October 2007.

Deputies say both teachers confessed to having sex with the boys. They turned themselves into the Santa Rosa County Jail on Thursday. Both were released after posting $50,000 bond. Both must also wear GPS tracking devices.

The Sheriff's Office would not say whether the three victim's are students of Watson and Burkett.

According to the school's website, Watson teaches math and is an advisor for the Junior varsity cheerleaders. Burkett teaches reading and special ed and is an assistant volleyball coach.

News 5 has not been able to reach the Santa Rosa County School Board to find out whether Watson and Burkett will face any disciplinary action from the district.

No one is saying that these women are innocent. If you have read the post you can see that everyone is confused as to why they would choose to have sex with teenage boys when women usually do not have a problem with finding a willing and of age male. The whole thing about not putting all the blame on the teachers, is explaining that these boys were wanting what occurred to happen. Other wise why do it multiple times. Also the fact that the anonymous letter problem came from them going around telling people what happened. The parent’s of these boys do not need to be assuming that their boys were completely innocent in this whole ordeal because the chances of that are very slim. Does it make what the teachers did right? No. They knew very well the risk they were taking. However, I highly doubt the boys were trying to talk them out of it. Especially if they were going over to the teachers houses.

i want to go back to school,i never had that kind of ed. when i was in school.

i can’t believe that even though the women are in their 30’s, somebody said i hope they don’t put the blame all on them, lol, like these women were coerced into this the by the boys giving them attention. men just don’t like to think that women have minds as scheming and dirty as theirs and that women are just persuaded into sex…stop watching those movies. if you heard how these teenage girls talk about sex to my sons on myspace trying to lure them in with their bodies… even some in their 20’s telling my son they have a car & a job and just want a boyfriend…women know what things boys like & tempt them with those things to get that attention they want-they are predators & knew very well the consequences but, didn’t care.

I must be getting old, because all of this sounds very creepy to me.  I don’t want kids going to school and getting that kind of up close and personal sex education class!

well it gives whole new meaning to special ed. maybe the other was teaching advanced biology

it’s not only teachers who become involved in this type of behavior… believe me. there is also the “support personnel” who have access to students and will go to great lengths to have sex with kids whom they influence. no joke, no lie. some school nurses have taken it upon themselves to be more than just a person who provides aid and health information for some of the students they influence. and they run the gamut in their professional character. from the caring “counselor” to the “motherly” type who knows easy pickings when they see them.

What I’m athinking is that we don’t need to be furnishing free room and board while she draws a pay check every month. They should be charging her just like she was in a Motel since she has the means to pay.As for these two young teachers, what makes it doubly bad is they, these boys, were their students. That’s a big NO-NO regardless. We do get a skewed look on these kind of things involving our kids.I think most men see it as statutory rape when it’s an under age girl, and the rites of manhood when it’s an under age male.I’ll bet these boys are getting a lot of pats on the back from their male peers at school.I have no idea what these two young teachers could have been thinking of at the time and this will probably follow them for a long time.

This gives meaning to higher education. There’s a teacher in AL, in jail still drawing a paycheck. For the past 2 years, she has received over $140,000. It turns out she is allow to collect while she appeals her case. What are we thinking?
