Trial Date Set In Murder Of Auburn Student

Alabama Auburn  The man accused of killed Auburn freshman Lauren Burk won't go to trial until march of next year more than two years after the alleged crime.

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - A judge has set a March 29, 2010 trial date
for Courtney L. Lockhart, who is charged in the 2008 shooting death
of Auburn University freshman Lauren Burk of Marietta, Ga.
Lee County Circuit Court Judge Jacob A. Walker III set
Lockhart's trial date during a court hearing Tuesday.
Lockhart, 24, of Smiths Station is charged with capital murder
during a robbery, capital murder during a kidnapping and capital
murder during an attempted rape. He has pleaded not guilty.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to death or life in prison
without parole.
The 18-year-old Burk was killed on March 4, 2008.
