Thousands of people are making their way home today, Sunday, July 05, 2009. Many are travelling a couple hundred miles away from their 4th of July destination. Vacationers are stopping in gas stations to take a break from the road. No matter which traveler you talk to, everyone seemed to have fun on their trip.“It was fun, we bought our own fireworks and shot them in the driveway of my daughter's house,” says Kathy Heald. She’s coming home after visiting her daughter in Niceville, Florida. Some are taking a family vacation for the first time.
“Grandkids coming of age, old enough to think about the trip so we decided to do it now,” says Keith Hilliard. He’s getting back from a trip to Destin, Florida. Others said they didn't travel too far from Mobile. All drivers had to face some heavy traffic making their way back home.
