Alabama Mobile Museum of Mobile Offers Free Admission First Sunday of Every Month.

"This is (from) the 18th century. Which I like the big. I like the big cannon ball that you put in the cannon, especially this long cannon", says DeAndre Watters. The eleven year old is taking in the weaponry, old world maps, and elaborate ships on display at the Museum of Mobile.

"I learned all this stuff while I was here, walking through...which is pretty amazing", says Watters.

You can get down on your hands and knees and dig for buried treasure at the pirate exhibit or delve into permanent interactive exhibits featuring Mobile's 300 year timeline.

"I think it's fun, and it has really cool cool things you can look at and and lots of exhibits..and it has many many old artifacts and stuff like that", says 9 year old Carolina Butler.

"From before the Europeans arrived to all the way through the civil rights era, we talk about recreation. We talk about mardi gras, we talk about ship building. Many many aspects of the museum are going to be interesting to all people", says Elyse Marley.

The discovery room here at the museum is always open. Kids can pick out their fresh seafood and fish, weigh it and then stroll on over to the fresh market for some yummy vegetables and fruits. Oh, and children are welcome to color on the walls here too, and another all time favorite, playing dress up".

Visitors can learn while having fun on this replica of the CSS Hunley submarine, and get a feel for the pedal power it took to man the underwater rowing boat.
The Museum of Mobile offers priceless artifacts and rich history rivaling larger city museums, and it's right here in our hometown.

"A lot of times people who live in their own community, they think oh well..I'll get to it one of these days and they don't realize that we have artifacts that we're putting on display that are brand new, have not been seen before. So even if they've been here before, they need to come back and see what we have to offer", says Marley.

"I just wanna come back, and have a great time", says Watters.

Normal admission for the Musuem of Mobile is five dollars for adults. Seniors get in for four bucks. Students pay three dollars, and children six and under always get in for free. A family group ticket is 20 dollars.

While you are at the Musuem, feel free to check out Fort Conde and Phoenix Fire Museum. Admission for those two places are always free.
