Alabama Governor Bob Riley wants people in the state to keep tabs on what is being spent.
On Wednesday, he will demonstrate a new website called open.alabama.gov.
The site can be accessed by anyone.
It details spending, grants and contracts handled by the state.
The website has been up and running since the end of February. You can check out the site by clicking here.

One Question! Why did our state give over $800 million to a German steal company when there isn’t enough money to fund schools?

We do need a better understanding of the city’s finances.  When looking at the city budget on their website, it is bothersome that there are no footnotes explaining why some things have such dramatic increases.

Why did the city council increase their 2008 budget by $345,970.00 in one year?  How do these part-time employees justify such a huge increase?  Exactly how is this money used?

10o/o finders fee for anybody that leads to, any miss used funds or fraud.

This should also be a requirement for the Mobile City government as well.  Most people feel that there are no checks and balances and so far no control over how the city council and the mayor spends our tax dollars.  We have all witnessed the recent expenditures by certain city council members and the mayor and we have wondered who is authorizing these outlays of our money.  We certainly had no say so in the matter. Perhaps there needs to be a finance committee that controls the purse strings of the city. Why not?
