MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - ThyssenKrupp AG officials say the
construction of the largest portion of the $4.65 billion complex
the company is building in Calvert might be delayed.
The German company said in a Tuesday statement that the current global economic situation is leading officials to consider pushing
back the startup of the Alabama project scheduled for spring 2010.
ThyssenKrupp also announced Tuesday that it could be on track to
lose more than $1 billion this year.
Spokesman Erwin Schneider said a decision about a delay could
come in a few weeks and a possible postponement could run for three
to six months.
The complex on the Mobile-Washington county line has two
business units making carbon steel and stainless steel. Those
portions of the complex are supposed to employ 2,700 people at full
operation.

If The United States, The State of Alabama, The County of Mobile, and the City of Mobile would stick to governing and not get involved with businesses; we would all have a high quality lifestyle.

paying busineess to come to your town is an EXCELLENT example of free market capitolism the republicans expouse isnt it. another myth exposed. thanks riley.

so how do we recoup our tax incentives we provided. another inovation to attract businesses in the deep south that didint turn out. just ask mississippi where nissan has laid off 1/2 of the canton plant. thougght payroll and Trickle down economics would work and exceed regular corporate taxes, , five years later and its a ghost town up there as i drive past it. and the town is broke

go figure.  never thought they would even finish it.
