TheCollegeBoy-
I sent you a private message.

hey thank you benefit and send my apologies and prayers to the three families. And if Fox wants an update I would like for them to talk to me as well. Everyone is hearing different versions of the story and I would like to tell what happened from my point of view as well. Again I am praying for these girls and their families everyday and I hope for the best and speedy recoveries.

I watched the report on 10 and I think Taylor would be a perfect candidate for the Shriners Hospital.

I used to be a Shriner, but unfortunately I kind of let my dues drop off when my kids were young and we were moving around a lot chasing career opportunities.  There is bound to be a Masonic Blue Lodge in Robertsdale and I bet a few Masons and Shriners stop in that restaurant I saw the other night.  That might not even be needed any more.

Go to this link and give them a call.

Children up to age 18 are eligible for care at Shriners Hospitals for Children if, in the opinion of our physicians, there is a reasonable possibility they can benefit from the specialized services available.

For patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children, ability to pay or insurance coverage is never an issue. There is no charge for any care or services provided within Shriners Hospitals facilities.

That was kind of why I told my little story.  I grew up in a small town in Mississippi and we really did not have the specialists I needed.  Some people urged my mom to send me to a Shriners hospital, but she was very young, single, working and just couldn’t stand the thought of sending me out of state.  So, I spent years in and out of Mississippi hospitals.  One skin graft after another.  One failed bone graft after another…..  It has a mental impact on a teenage mind.

Would have been much better to have sent me off for specialized treatment, but that’s spilt milk.  I would hate to see this young girl go through half the hell I experienced back in those days.

BamaBob-
Thank you so much.  I will pass that along to Taylor’s mother.  I guess I didn’t realize Shriners did all of that.  Again thank you.

I still think the Shriners Hospital might be the way to go.  They are the best and it wouldn’t cost the family a penny.  Your local Shriners could do a fundraiser to help with travel expenses, etc.  This sort of injury could impact that young girl for life.

By the way, Fox 10 will have more details this afternoon, they are doing an update and have spoken to Taylor’s mother.

BamaBob-
I apologize.  I was thinking about orthepedic as being bone only.  She’s having problems with muscle, tissue, skin, ligaments, etc.  A lot of flesh is missing from the leg.

Well, I was going to pass on a follow-up question, but I am totally confused.

Earlier you said that the girl would require multiple surgeries on her leg.  Now you say there is no orthopedic injury (skeletal, associated muscles, joints, and ligaments) and her injury is more serious.  Could you elaborate without becoming too personal?  In your earlier post could you have possibly meant multiple physical therapy sessions a week instead of surgeries?

Was just trying to help out, but now I don’t have a clue what kind of help she needs.

Not sure what would be more serious than bone, muscle and skin, but I hope she does well with her treatment.
