SUMMERDALE, Ala. (AP) - A 3-year-old Baldwin County boy drowned
in a pond near his home in Summerdale.
Coroner Jim Small says Nathan Olson drowned on Spring Creek
Drive at about 6:10 p.m. Saturday. The mobile home at the site was
off a dirt road south of Baldwin County 34.
The child was taken by ambulance to South Baldwin Regional
Medical Center, but was pronounced dead at the Foley hospital.

So sorry for the parents. This is such a tragedy to have to deal with. Bless you. I know many people have you in their prayers.

Children can drown in inches of water, toilet bowls, etc. We do the best we can. I think it’s a miracle that many of us survived.

Outrage…..Thank you .... that was my exact point.. don’t pass judgement until you hear the facts… and yes, accidents do happen.  And God’s will ...is always done.

You guys remind me of old women sitting on the porch complaning about kids these days. Since you dont wanna find out the truth I will tell you. I have personally done some investigation on this matter. The child was not playing unsupervised or in the care of a 5 yr old. 3 adults where in the yard also. The mother walked across the yard to get something. She did not leave. The other two adults where in the back yard working. It all happened in the time span of about 3 minutes.  Accidents do happen!! You must understand that no matter where the child was when God is ready to call him home no one can do anything about it. Instead of bashing this family you all should be praying for them!!

The answer to your question is yes, I called DHR several times. And I constantly look out my window for the child in the street. And I begged the neighbors to not speed down the road.

I would like to know if Violator has called DHR on the lady who lets her child play in the street.

So, some of you believe it was appropriate for the parents to allow the 3 y/o to play near a retention pond with a 5 y/o watching over him?  I agree with violator on this one, yes there are some parents that are great parents but you never hear about them because they watch their kids and don’t end up in the news.  Now don’t get me wrong I’m not claiming these were bad parents, drunks, or drug abusers but I also don’t believe a good parent would allow their toddler to play near water with no adult near by. “the boy’s mother found him face down in the retention pond. He had been playing nearby with a
5-year-old.” This line form the story tells me that the mother was not around when the kid went into the water.  What does it tell you?

Well said Mechanic….. and yes…back to work

I agree that with people like Violater we will get no where with the point we are trying to make. God Bless and have a wonderful week!!!!

Yes I agree there is some great parents in today’s world. Those are the ones that you never hear about. The ones where their kids grown up and lead a successful life. I said there are a lot of bad parents in today’s society. Look at the teen crime rates. Look at the disrespect by kids today. They abuse the elderly, have no manners and obedience. I love it when a pit bull bites someone and people that own pit bulls say it’s not the dog but how the dog was raised. Why doesn’t this theory apply to children? Bottom line is most of the bad things you hear about that a child was hurt or killed can be traced back to absent parents. You have to be drunk, stoned to not realize your child is in harms way. Unless you simply don’t give a rats butt if they are.

I agree Cridge. We are talkin to a tree.  Wonder why there name is Violator??? Hmmmmm       Some of us have to get back to work everyone have a nice day.
