More cash for the Gulf Coast Classic will be a topic at Mobile's City Council meeting on Tuesday.

The Classic is the matchup between Southern University and Alabama State that got lots of attention last year. Remember? They city proposed to pump 450,000 dollars into the game but the council ended up voting to give 275,000.

Greg LaFleur is the Athletic Director for Southern University in Baton Rouge and says his school is still owed money. "Well, we counted on our payment from the Gulf Coast Classic. So, it does create a strain for our department and the university. I wanna sit with the people I had a chance to visit with a year ago and discuss what we talked about."

Classic officials tell us that Southern is owed about 100,000 dollars. Barbara Drummond with the City of Mobile says the city doesn't owe Southern any money. The future of the game in Mobile is expected to be discussed as well.

Think it is one of those Obamanomics, trickle up theory kind of things where you spend money you don’t have like a drunken sailor and let future generations worry about picking up the tab.  Let the good times roll!

Are we doing the bail out thing now.  Did we see anything better after the $250K was pumped into this game?  Did the city increase revenues (increase is key word) to equal the amount that was funded?

If a $9,000.00 moonpie can bring in millions, a $250,000.00 moonpie could pay off the national debt!

You think maybe the Gulf Coast Classic organization and the people who run it just wanted more money in their own pockets???
Follow the money…..I was against the increased city payout last year, and now the schools aren’t even getting paid???? Heck we could have had a MUCH bigger moonpie with $250,000…..
