THIS IS HIS OLDER BROTHER JACOB BROOKS, I JUST WANTED TO LET EVEY ONE KNOW THAT THIS WASNT MY BROTHER’S FOULT AND IF ANY ONE THINKS IT IS THEN I HOP YOU LIVE FEEL SORRY, BECOUSE OF SOME IMPATENT DRIVER WANTED TO SHOW OFF IN FRONT OF A GIRL WICH IM NOT SAYING NAMES AND SPEED AROUND A NOTHER CAR FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS AND DOING THE RIGHT THING TOOK A LIFE OF A LOVED ONE THAT DID NOT DESERV THIS, AND FOR THOES PEOPLE SAYING THINGS LIKE THAY KNOW IM GOING TO SET YOU STREIGHT, YOU WOULDNT KNOW BECOUSE YOU WASNT THERE. MY LIL BROTHER DID NOT DO ANY THING WRONG AND HE DID HAVE REFLECTERS ON HIS BIKE, HE JUST DIDNT EXPECTE A CARELESS DRIVER TO HIT HIM FROM BEHIND. IT WAS HARD FOR ME TO RUN BACK AND FORTH AND TRY TO LOOK FOR MY BROTHER AND THEN FIND HIM LAYING IN A DITCH WITH HIS LIFELESS BODY AND NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO AND JUST LOOKING AT MY BROTHER DIEING, ITS NOT EASY, THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE LOOKING FOR MY BROTHER, THE CARELESS PERSON THAT HIT HIM DID NOT EVEN TRY TO HELP. BUT I LOVE U LIL BRO

DEW,  I understand your point, but you weren’t there so you have no idea what transpired at that time.  One of the top orthopedic surgeons looked at Cody’s x-rays and asked the grandmother if he’d been struck by an 18 wheeler.  Just because there was blood and body parts at the scene you witnessed, does not mean that it has to be that way at every scene such as this one.

There is evidence to show that Cody and Jake were standing exactly where Jake said they were standing, right next to a mailbox that has reflectors on it, too. 

For RIPCodyBrooks, I am so sorry that your heart is broken.  Mine is too.  Any possible helpful information regarding this accident should be given to the family immediately. 

For now, though, we’re trying to figure out how to finish paying the expenses of the funeral.  I’m not even sure how to go about asking for help, since we haven’t been in such a position in our lives.  Pinecrest Cemetary is to be the recipient of the funds.

I’ll take the citation rather than be a law abiding corpse!!!!!

MeAmerican, dumb or not, it’s the law, and you can be cited just as if you were driving a car for being on the wrong side of the road.

Ride with traffic? That’s got to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard!
I tend to like seeing what is comming at me. That split reaction timing may save my life. If that vehicle is comming up behind me the only thing I have time for is to hear that vehicle slam into the back of me.
I gave up a long time ago on gaining any degree of respect for bicyclist by auto drivers. Those drivers are NOT gonna look out for me, that is entirely my responsibility. Therefore I will do what it takes to keep me alive.

Oh, and BTW, A bike lane fron I-10 to Hwy182 along Hwy 59 Would be real swell and save lives!!

cody wasnt standing on the side of the road cody was on the bike and jake was on the side of the road!and he went for a bike ride wit them they werent on the way home from either boys house because jake and steven live rite down the road from jacob and cody..
cody is a hero nomatter wat any of yall say!!he was saving his friends life and it tooks his!!

why dident this boy family take his frend home instead of letting them going by them selves after dark on a bisy highway that is puzling to me. Im not blaming eney one but I would took the boy home befor I would let my child ride his bike on a bissy highway after dark.

When I watched the video, the witness stated that Cody was standing on the shoulder side of the road when he was hit. I hope they reconstruct the accident to determine fault rather than relying on blaming the victim.

ripcodybrooks AND Olyveoil , no one has put blame on Cody for his death, our comments were simply to state that this WAS a preventable situation. I understand how you feel about your loss, but you CAN NOT lay blame on the driver. In the article and the video, you can hear them say that the driver was LEGALLY passing, and was not speeding, I want to inform you that, IF he had of been hit by a vehicle at 70mph, there would have been body parts scattered everywhere, I was the first person at a scene in Arkansas, where a child his age was struck by a vehicle moving at 65mph(a very disgusting scene). My earlier comments were simply a reminder to others, that if you going to ride after dark, wear BRIGHT clothing, a HELMET, AND ALWAYS RIDE IN THE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC, and not against it! Had he have been on the proper side of the road, this accident could have been very well prevented. Freak accidents DO happen, however 98% of accidents are easily prevented.

this is by far no way cody brooks’ fault..h was riding his bike like he always dose!!an he wa tryin to sve his friend!!no matter wat youu shoul always have your lights on anyways at night so that woman shuld have been able to see cody and been able to miss him!!!so stop tryin to blamethis on the color clothes he was wearin!and even a helment wouldnt have saved cody’s life!!so dnt be tryin to blame this on him!!i knew cody for a long time and i kno cody is safe wen he is out riding so this isn his fault!!this is her fault!!and i hate her for this!!she to my best friend and the only guy i have ever loved!!and i was gunna tell himthis weekend that i oved him!!but now i cant thanks to her!!!!i hate whoever that ladie was!!!
