Alex Horn might be the luckiest kid alive! Horn and a friend were playing with a sawed-off rifle Thursday night when the gun accidentally went off. Horn was shot in the chest. The bullet exited through his back.
"He was having a hard time breathing," says Horn's grandmother, Linda Sherman. "I think he has a guardian angel watching over him."
Even though the incident has been ruled an accidental shooting by the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, the investigation is far from over. Detectives say charges are still pending involving the sawed-off rifle.
"The barrel itself had been sawed off which is illegal," says Major Anthony Lowery with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. "We'll be seeking charges related to this gun. They were playing with a loaded gun with no trigger guard on it. Anytime you do that, you're going to have problems."
Horn has already been released from the hospital. The young man is expected to make a full recovery.
