Your house catching on fire is a tough way to find out your teenage daughter is a smoker. But that's exactly what happened to a Mobile mother.

Steve Huffman with Mobile Fire-Rescue says a 13-year-old girl left a lighted cigarette on her bed. The cigarette caught her family's house on Mohawk Street in Midtown on fire. The fire caused $5,000 in damages.

Huffman says the girl's mom didn't know her daughter smokes, until now.

Are you an idiot?

PUBLIC INFORMATION IS PUBLIC INFORMATION.

Ya’ll leave Kx alone, she is anti American, Anti-armed forces, anti-kids, anti rights and several other antis.  But that is her right because the Constitution gives her the right to be ignorant of social behavior and good judgement.

Kx you have some real issues - I pray you don’t bear children before you seek some counseling for yourself.

Maybe you should try to apologize for posting a minor’s link and sitting in judgement of a minor.

How old are you?

Since you obviously do not have children what gives you the right to judge a minor or the parents for that matter?

Are you a counselor?  Are you a minister?  Are you without sin of any kind?

But you need to look at your own sins and concentrate on those before you going spewing your vile opinions on other people.

1. This is OLD NEWS. Quit digging in the dirt.

2. Public information is exactly that…PUBLIC INFORMATION.

3. If my children were 13 years old, they definately would not be allowed to use the internet unsupervised, and definately would not be allowed to have a myspace page, since most kids this age are all about “sexting” and “cyber bullying”

Kx: I have to agree with others on here, posting her through linking to her “myspace page” is disrespectful. You need to think before you go doing stuff like that, like they asked what if it were your kid that done something wrong, would you like it if we plastered your kids pic on here or a link to their page.

wow…some of these people have nothing better to do-obviously.  Posting a link to a childs myspace is over the top.  Also the one about probably doing what she sees her mom and dad do….you folks are a riot and most likely don’t have children and if you do, we all feel sorry for them…guess what?  They are human children and make mistakes.  What gives you the right to post their picture on this story?  Sounds like a mentally unstable adult for sure.  How would you feel if your child made a mistake…God forbid…and their myspace pic was posted for all to see….“Look at this kid..“see- everybody see?”  Get a life people and stay out of others.

We are talking about a teenager here.  I remember being one and I remember telling lies and sneaking around and doing things my parents didn’t approve of.  All you can do is try and to keep trying.  Especially in todays economy when it usually takes both parents working more than 40 hours a week outside the home just to have a home and pray they have enough left over for food.  Let’s be a little more considerate of each other no one in this world is perfect no matter how hard we try.

I think I would have just wanted to die in the fire, I mean wow, my mom beat me for skipping a class in middle school and I never skipped again (until college) so me personally, I would have wanted to go with whatever was damanged but this child will probably get nothing but a slap on the hand, if that… I think this falls under dumb crook news haha

Good god. My parents would have beat that $5000 in damage repairs out of me.
