Saraland police say a teenager had a heart attack and died after inhaling freon to get high.

According to Lt. Danny Walker, 18-year-old Andrew Harris was hanging out with a few friends at a house on Forest Avenue. Lt. Walker says Harris raised the hood of a truck, opened the freon valve and filled a plastic bag with freon. Harris then held the back to his face and inhaled.

The attempt to get high cost Harris his life. Shortly after inhaling the freon, police say Harris had a heart attack. Harris was taken by helicopter to USA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The District Attorney's office has reviewed the case and says no charges will be filed.

Just FYI, Freon 12, 22,134, 410a, etc, is not a poison gas, it does remove oxygen.  He could have done the same thing with just a plastic bag. If you A/C leaks at home, its ok, you’ll just get hot.
