MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The state of Alabama says it plans toissue tax refunds by the end of September to the great majority of
those who have not yet received them despite having filed before
April 15.
State officials say about 24,000 individuals and married couples
fall into that category.
Department spokeswoman Carla Snellgrove says a few thousand of
those filers may have to wait even longer for their refunds, most
likely because officials still have questions about their returns.
Snellgrove says any person or couple who filed for a state
individual income tax refund by April 15 should either have the
refund or an explanation from the department about the holdup by
Sept. 30.
