Suspect Shot After Trying To Tase Police Officer

6:48 p.m.

- Mobile police have identified the suspect as 23-year-old Ricky Lett, Jr.
- Lett is no stranger to Mobile police. The mugshot you see above is from his arrest in January of 2008 on Identity Theft charges.

3:51 p.m.
- According to District Attorney John Tyson, the officer fired his taser, but only one prong stuck in the suspect. The suspect then pulled the prong out, grabbed the taser and pointed it at the officer who then shot the suspect three times.
- The suspect was transported to USA Medical Center where he's undergoing surgery.
- The officer is "scuffed up," but okay

2:49 p.m.
Mobile police are investigating an officer involved shooting that sent a suspect to the hospital.

According to department spokesman Chris Levy, an officer tried to pull the suspect over on Government at McVay. The suspect got of his car and ran into the wooded area behind the Raceway gas station.

During the foot chase, Levy says the suspect tried to grab the officer's taser. The officer shot the suspect. The suspect was transported to the hospital.

I can not believe that that guy actually went on for over 12 hours in trying to make a point. I have never seen someone contradict themselves so many times on one topic in one day. Must be a new world record.

Mistakes? He made the mistake when he ran from the cops. You run from the cops and they need to be in your face. Got to close, lol where do these nut jobs come from. The world does not suffer fools but we have to on here. Somebody needs to hand feed a few grizzle or sell of few bibles door to door in the Helmand province. You’ll be ok, just don’t get to close and don’t make any mistakes

Thats right monkey man. I just say he should have never got close enough for him to get his hands on anything the officer had, sure he should have been shot. All I am saying is the officer made mistakes. Have a nice day worm.

If he didn’t want to get shot he should have not been fighting with the po po. Anyone that try’s to put his or her hands on a cop’s weapon while evading arrest needs to be shot dead. It is the same as pulling out your own weapon on them and that will get you just as dead. Good bye to you scumbag. Any of you blind sheep out there that can’t see that should be mute as well as blind.
