Gatorade has named Catherine Rebarchak of St. Paul's Episcopal the 2008-09 Alabama Volleyball Player Of The Year. Rebarchak is a 6'2" senior middle blocker and outside hitter. She recorded 509 blocks and 491 kills this season, leading the Saints (53-9) to a third consecutive Class 5A state championship. She also made 184 digs and served 81 aces.
“She’s the best player to come out of this area in a long time,” said Anne Schilling, head coach of rival Bayside Academy. “She’s just so dominant. She hits over people. We couldn’t stop her."
Rebarchak has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Purdue next fall. She's now a finalist for the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award.
