For the most part, the weather hasn't cooperated this week for thousands of spring breakers visiting Alabama's beaches. The Gulf Shores Public Beach was deserted Thursday. Only a few daredevil windsurfers kept the seagulls company. Overcast skies, brief periods of heavy rain, a steady wind and dangerous rip currents kept spring-breakers off the beach and inside their condos and hotels. Springbreakers we talked to say their vacation was a "bust!"
On the flip side though, retailers at the Tanger Outlet Center in Foley do not mind the rain. Retailers tell News 5 that sales increase when it rains at the beach..
