Spring Break Washout

Gulf Shores Spring Break Red flags at the beach might take some fun out of spring break but it's not taking the money! Find out why businesses are seeing green.

For the most part, the weather hasn't cooperated this week for thousands of spring breakers visiting Alabama's beaches.
The Gulf Shores Public Beach was deserted Thursday. Only a few daredevil windsurfers kept the seagulls company. Overcast skies, brief periods of heavy rain, a steady wind and dangerous rip currents kept spring-breakers off the beach and inside their condos and hotels. Springbreakers we talked to say their vacation was a "bust!"
On the flip side though, retailers at the Tanger Outlet Center in Foley do not mind the rain. Retailers tell News 5 that sales increase when it rains at the beach..
