MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - University of South Alabama trustees could
approve a tuition increase by at least 8 percent for the coming
school year.
A board of trustees panel met Wednesday and recommended that
undergraduate tuition move from $5,512 to $5,962, based on 30
undergraduate hours, for 2009-2010. In-state graduate students
would pay $6,334 next fall, up 10.5 percent from $5,758. USA's
medical students would pay $19,655, an increase of $1,650, or 9.2
percent.
University fees would not increase, according to the proposal
before the board meeting Thursday morning in Mobile. The university
has about 13,400 students.
Officials cited state budget cuts for the tuition increase.

No. My mom became disabled in 2004, and I had quit school and work for a few years before I could afford to go back. This will be my third year back.

By the way, did you know the president of University of South Alabama gets paid more than the president of the United States of America?

Kx - 5 yrs ? Are you in grad school? Because the tuition is alot more there.
No doubt tuition is getting higher and higher but the University has to replace the funds not coming from the State. Still seems bad enough even in these trying time to raise Tuition.

They were debating?  I mean, really, was there ever any doubt?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I almost couldn’t afford to go this summer! All these kids that don’t have mommy and daddy to pay for their school are stuck! I can’t get financial aid because South is stupid and counts my parents income against me becuase I am under 23. So they say that they should be paying for it BUT THEY DONT. I can’t get financial aid, I DONT want loans. But I am getting to the point I cant afford it. This is horrible.
They should cut some of the football scholarships, or cut the renovations or something.

Just quit hurting the students who are doing everything they can to make ends meet. I only have two more semesters before I graduate. Just wait till then.

Good god, not again.

In Fall 2003 I paid $1,792.00 for 4 classes.
In Fall 2008 I paid $4,286.00 for 4 classes.
