Ian Aitcheson and his friend, 19 year old Danny Weaver will face capital murder and arson charges in the death of Aitcheson's father Bob. The Silverhill man was killed and then his home set on fire early Wednesday morning, according to investigators.
"Ian Aitcheson, which is Mr. Aitcheson 16 year old son, on charges of capital murder and arson in the first degree," announced Baldwin County Sheriff Hoss Mack.
Late this afternoon, News Five learned 19 year old Keshjuan Betts of Robertsdale was also taken into custody and charged with capital murder in the death of Bob Aitcheson.
He was found dead in this burned out mobile home early Wednesday morning. Sheriff Mack says the fire was started to cover up the crime. "Mr. Aitcheson succumbed to a single stab wound to the upper abdomen possibly made with a large knife."
News Five has learned from a source that admits to being with the three suspects the night of the murder. The person says they were in a car not far from the mobile home and they fell asleep when they were awakened by an explosion and then footsteps running towards the car. First Keshjuan Betts, next Ian Aitcheson and finally Danny Weaver running back to the car, away from the explosion.
All three arrests were made in a Robertsdale mobile home park. Betts arrest was particularly surprising for his neighbor Gilbert Harrison. "I just can't believe it. It sounds like a totally different kid. I just can't believe it."
Betts first court appearance is set for Monday.
Aitcheson and Weaver remain jailed without bond for the murder and a million dollars bond for the arson.
Ian Aitcheson is being charged as an adult but will not be eligible for the death penalty because of his age.
Prosecutors say the death penalty is a possibility for the other two suspects because of the severity of the crime.

Why would you kill your father or step father i think these kids deserve what they get i think they should fry in the chair screw the needle thats a relaxing way to die i think they should feel the pain that they did to the man if you thik other wise your screwed in the head

Ian was in some of my classes also. We had the same lunch and hung out with some of the same people, so our paths crossed from time to time. I thought that I knew him, but sometimes I guess people don’t always let you see all of who they are…
Ian was quiet, laid back, and in many people’s books he was a pretty cool person to hang out with. But everyone in school knew that Ian was on drugs and so were a few of his friends, and drugs never lead to anything good, but I can honestly say I never expected any of these kids to murder someone…

(cont.)  To my surprise when the chief asked me to step outside and talk to him he informed me that our DHS workers made trips to our schools a couple times a year to tell our children what abuse was and that immediately afterwards the spark in 911 calls increased tremendously because everytime a child was disciplined they were calling 911 to report that they had been abused.

Now don’t get me wrong I believe there are children out there that are abused and NEED our help but I personally think that the POWER and Discretion DHS has in determining the fate of our children is WAY TOO MUCH.  In this day in time if you spank your child with a switch or a belt it is abuse but if you are a drug head who lets the child run free and do as he/she pleases with no discipline you are nominated as parent of the year.

Our society is severally screwed up and Big Brother has a lot to do with it.  Personally I probably do not discipline my children enough but I do discipline them.

BamaBob:  You are so correct, but the school systems have failed us because the school systems have NO AUTHORITY to discipline our children.  I will not get into the the whole discipline vs abuse thing but when it the school system has absolute no means to control our children then we are in a sad, sad state.  I substitute teach from time to time and it is a pure disgrace what our children are allowed to get away with.  I have am a firm believer of spare the rod and spoid the child.  My children are not perfect but when they are disrespectful or disobedient I have no problem correcting them.

Several years ago my oldest son did something that warrented a spanking.  Well to make a long story short afterwards he told me that spanking was child abuse and called 911.  I saved the City the gas and loaded him up and promptly delivered him to the Chief of Police’s home. After a little one on one with our chief he was returned home.  (cont.)

You guys are right on about our friend. He was a gentle soul. I have a million stories with Bob. I watched him tear up a very steep and long hill in his old Jeep. The tailgate dropped down and his tire took off down the hill, And I mean fast. It hit a rock and must have reached around a hundred feet airborne and vanished over the trees. He will be greatly missed.

Apparently our school systems have failed us miserably and that is all I will say about that before I start hurting some feelings.

This is a sad situation, but anyone that would kill and burn a parent has no soul.  A lost cause that should not walk amongst us.

I have known Bobby for at least ten years.  He was a gentle soul and willing to help any body that he could.  Including his kids.  It is a shame that his own son could do this terrible thing to his own father.  Who loved him and tried to help him.  The world will not be the same without Bob.  I to believed that Ian should pay for what he has done.  Murder is wrong no matter who commits it.  This just proves that people need to consider who their friends are because all it takes is one wrong discussion to destroy someone life and yours.  We will miss Bobby very much.  We pray that God will help his family deal with this tragedy

I’m curiuos the neighbor where they were arrested said that there were never any adults around that it was just always 16 and 17 year old kids.  I know for a fact that those homes in that subdivision run anywhere from 70 plus thousand dollars and I know for a fact that that home was not sold to a bunch of kids.  What happened to the parents who bought the house????  The sad part is is that this a not a TRAILOR PARK it is a subdivision and the people own their homes and have to keep them up according to the covenants.

Where is the Aitcheson’s kids mother?  I read where he had a sister and a brother, where are they?

I had Ian in ny 8th grade history class, i thought he was pretty cool. we talked every day. i just didn’t think of him to do that. just dosen’t see like him.

I had Keshjaun in ritc my freshmen year, he sat next and we talked al the time…its to see them in this way

I had Ian in one of my classes and i didnt think that he would be the type of person to do this!
he was always quite and just seemed really laid back. when i found out what he done i couldnt believe it! it stuns me of what he did.
