He's been on the run since police say he stabbed his mother to death in Elberta. Now, Chris Adams is in custody, charged with her murder."He didn't resist, put up a fight in any way," says Glenn Austin with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office as deputies arrest Chris Adams less than 25 miles from where police say he stabbed his Mother to death.
He was last seen running into the woods behind a convenience store. Dogs, choppers and around a dozen patrol cars swept through the area looking for any sign of him. "One of our deputies came down the road thought they spotted him with a woman," says Austin.
"He said he was from Alabama." Cynthia Godfrey met Adams just a few minutes before his arrest at a bus stop. She was looking for someone to help fix her car and had no idea anything was wrong until police swarmed her car. "They say he's in a lot of trouble," she says and almost breaks out in tears when she hears what he is accused of. "I want to cry. It could have been me."
Now in the custody of U.S. Marshals, Adams could be back in Alabama later this week. He is believed to have taken his Mother's truck after the murder, it has also been recovered in Pensacola.
