MOBILE, Alabama - Police say a soldier, who was found dead in his Saraland home, was killed by his son-in-law.

John Lamar Pope, Jr., 31, was arrested Friday in Baldwin County. Police say he murdered Anthony Embley, 57.

Embley's body was discovered in his Williams Avenue home October 21st after he did not show up for work, but Saraland Police Chief Kevin Anderson would not say how long investigators believe Embley, an active member of the National Guard, had been dead.

Investigators are being tight-lipped with other details of the investigation including a motive and cause of death, but News Five dug into Pope's criminal history and found more than a dozen burglary and robbery arrests. According to court records, Pope is scheduled to stand trial next week in Washington County.

Pope is being held on a probation violation and will be transported to Mobile County to face the murder charge. His bond is set at $1 million.

Folks, this family has been thru too much already! Please do not post any thing negitive. And Please keep them in your Prayers!

Tony was a Wonderful Friend….....to me and EVERYONE Else…....he did not Deserve This!
I hate to think that it could be his son-in-law that might have done this!
I pray that it isn’t true!  But the police know more then we do!

Just because someone has a prior or even and ongoing trial, how does that make that person a murder suspect. JMO. I don’t get it.
