Can the type of smoke alarm you have in your home really make a difference between life and death?Tiffany Spencer of Mobile is taking Kidde, one of the nation's largest smoke alarm manufacturers, to court.
Her sister and two nephews died in a house fire and she believes if there was a different type of smoke alarm, her family would still be alive.
News Five tried contacting the local legal representative for Kidde about Spencer's claims, but our calls were not returned.
Is there really a difference?

Keep in mind, fire officials say "all" smoke detectors work the best when there are working batteries and are tested on a regular basis.
Also, remember that smoke detectors need to be replaced every five to ten years.
