MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A state Senate committee has approved a
bill that would allow pet owners to get their dogs and cats
vaccinated for rabies every three years instead of annually.
The vote Thursday by the Senate Health Committee sends the bill
to the Senate for consideration.
The bill's sponsor, Republican Sen. Larry Dixon of Montgomery,
said Alabama is the last state to require annual vaccinations. All
other states have gone to longer vaccination periods because of
advances in the rabies vaccines.
Dixon's bill would also require rabies vaccinations for ferrets.

We need to fix the price on fixing your pets some where in the neighborhood where all could afford it first, then you would see a lot more being done. Not long ago we paid $125 to fix a female cat that took up here, after we looked every place we could think of for a better price. There always seem to be strings attached to these reduced prices for the service. It’s getting to the point where you can’t even afford to have all the pets vaccinated much less proper care and feeding and It’s really hard to run a starving animal away when all they are looking for is a little food and shelter.I’m all for rabies shots but I wonder what it cost now to manufacture a shot of vaccine for rabies,50 cents to a dollar?I bet there is money being made off of it and lots of it.

Thank goodness we finally got on the wagon with every other state. Don’t litter, fix your pets folks!~
