JUPITER, Fla. (AP) - A surfer was bitten on the foot by a shark
and may have lost two toes.
The bite happened at around 3:45 Sunday near Jupiter, on
Florida's East Coast. Witnesses told officials that the victim was
bitten on the foot and may have lost two toes. Lifeguards wrapped
the wounded foot in towels until paramedics arrived to treat the
man on the beach.
He was taken to Jupiter Medical Center where the staff says he
is in stable condition.

Has anyone ever been told off? Toed off?

mammals are not on many sharks list of food. shark bites are a mistake by the shark most of the time. nonclear water where the sharks food fish are active , is just asking for it.

ickthus - You are exactly right.  I see more sharks while fishing between the beach and the first sandbars than I see 20 miles out in the deep water.  I’m sure they are out there but they must stay well below the surface unless provoked.  Why do people swim where the bait fish are?

rolltide, i worked out in the gulf as a diver for yrs. safer to swim out in the gulf than at the beach were they feed on fish.

Anyone that has been out to even the first sand bar fishing will never swim in the Gulf.

Not when he stands up.

Isn’t Jupiter the Shark Bite Capital of the world? If not it is close by there. I have never surfed, but it must be a rush better than drugs to risk being taste tested by those toothy critters.
